England’s first one-day international with India in Bristol has been delayed by rain.
Play at Nevil Road was due to get underway at 10:30am but persistent rain forced a delay to proceedings.
Prospects of a full day’s play appear remote as heavy rain is forecast throughout the day.
Alex Hales is due to make his international ODI debut alongside Alastair Cook if play gets under way.
However, it seems Hales may have to wait until Cardiff on Wednesday to apply his Twenty20 international skills in the 50-over format for England for the first time.
The Met Office’s forecast for the region is far from promising and includes the following yellow weather warning.
“Heavy rain will spread from the southwest on Bank Holiday Monday. The public should be aware that there may be some impacts to holiday traffic and outdoor activities.”
